What does your favorite Cardiologist do at 3am..?
Well run a half marathon of course.. !
Got up at 2am.. got ready and off we went…
The first thing my fellow conspirators Jeff Castonguay Jennifer Davis said when we met up ” what is wrong with us?”
That question isn’t completely inaccurate…. we ran in complete pitch black darkness, with fogging up glasses kinda humidity, a flashlight as our guides and we tackled some serious hilly terrain….
But this post is not necessarily about us doing this insane long run in the wee hours of the morning ( or night according to some) it is about WHY.
We are marathon training and that was what was on the training plan.. we each had busy schedules for the rest of the day and the long run would not have been completed
It is about the fortitude of getting the job done especially when you don’t want to…
Excuses are a dime a dozen.. and I use them frequently… but I learned today that in order to succeed I have to use them less..
I have friends who swim train at 4am in darkness in ponds.. I am not that brave… I can’t see.. etc. Excuses to me but motivation for others..
In order to achieve a goal one must push past the limits of the chatty mind and just DO it
so I got it done ..
Thanks to equally bhatshit crazy friends I keep challenging myself and experiencing life in ways I never would have in the past…
No limits now…
So the lesson for today… choose your excuses wisely…some of them will hold you back from discovering the best version of yourself..
Only one life to live…. do it ALL
PS if you are wondering … pooping at 2am is virtually impossible but a certainty after 13 miles of running..
Grateful for the muffins that were surprisingly waiting for us at the end of the run… by our fellow athlete Donna Carroll they were inhaled not even chewed 🤙🙏!!
…………….
I love you
