The perception of rain.

Rain. The chemical in liquid phase that can either nourish our spirits and our earth or destroy it with its force. The other day I had gone out running and ended up getting caught in a rainstorm. I was totally soaked. The rain helped wash away the sweat, but yet I did not enjoy the damp feelings and wet shoes, so I yelled at the rain for messing up my run. Yet I instantly recalled a similar run that was plagued with a sweltering heat, and towards the middle of my run as I was parched for water, the clouds came together and blessed me and quenched my thirst.

Why did I curse the same rain yet felt blessed by it at another instance? If I were to be a farmer then I would be pleased with the rain, welcoming it during a drought, yet in the some instant if I were to be relaxing at the sunny beach and my day was interrupted by a storm, I would be most annoyed.

The rain is the rain. Just water. My perception of the rain governs my mood and may either offer me peace or bring me displeasure. There are only 3 things that we can control in life. Our perceptions, ergo our decisions and our actions. If we have faulty perceptions then it stands to reason that the rest of the chain falls. If our perceptions are balanced then our decisions and actions are balanced and may receive fruitful outcomes.

How we perceive our life, and our world is quite telling of our mindsets and that perhaps we may be filled with judgments. Our perceptions can also be used as guides for us to find our own inner triggers that can be extinguished to allow for us to grow whence released.

Rain is rain. I can either choose to like it, hate it, or be indifferent. Or better still, learn to love the rain through a more balanced perception.

I love you
