Just thought I would share this with you. I had been sitting in my chair outside the other day enjoying the breeze when I recalled this funny realization.
The universe is not without a sense of irony. I always knew I wanted to be a cardiologist since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Yet in medical school I took a keen interest in pediatric cardiology. In fact even on my pediatric rotations I was told by my mentors that I should go into pediatrics as I had a talent for it and then pursue further training in cardiology.
I declined. I did not want to deal with the whiny parents. ( which one day I would become…. the universe is also not without a sense of humor).
so off I go into the world of adult medicine and then become a cardiologist after fellowship. And now in practice I see a wide variety of adult and elderly patients. Those too elderly or mentally incapable to take care of themselves are being taken care of ( for the most part) by their now adult children. Who are also whiny !!!
I do not regret my decision though almost 2 decades later.
Life is not without a sense of irony and humor. But the universe does have a sense of balance. Avoid the parents who become the children later. Take care of the children who become the parents later !!
Have an amusing day !
……………….
I love you
